I don’t quite understand why it is that even a banal T.V. programme can be so destructive of one’s morale. This is especially the case with X-Factor.

The whole show is just so dispiriting and, generally, totally demeaning of those rather rare contestants who have real talent. The panel passes judgement on those whose talent, even in the most pathetic cases, far outshines their own negligible quotient!
